How We Review
How we choose, taste and score the wines and accessories we recommend.
The HouseWines Score
Each wine review can include a HouseWines Score from 0 to 10, based on our editors' tasting notes and four factors:
- Quality: balance, complexity and finish
- Typicity: how well it expresses its grape and region
- Value: quality for the price
- Availability: how easy it is to find
A score is only added after an editor has tasted the wine.
Accessories
We recommend accessories based on specifications, materials, ease of use and value. Where we haven't tested a product hands-on, we say so.
Independence
We may earn a commission from some links, and some wineries pay for clearly labeled Sponsored listings. Neither affects our reviews, scores or which products we recommend. Spotted an error? Let us know.
